One of my recurring resolutions is to not buy clothing which also extends to accessories and general 'stuff'. This year, instead of banning myself from shopping, I have written: meaningful additions. Hopefully this will force me to carefully choose quality items that fit with my existing wardrobe and life instead of buying truckloads of things that lay unused.
I have been following several blogs that have gone through wardrobe purges and shopping bans. Of note are:
- Dead Fleurette- this article about French women's wardrobe motivated me to purge my stuff really, also her shopping resolution here
- 365 Fashion Rehab- 2 bloggers who didn't shop for a year (showing it can be done!)
- A Pair and a Spare DIY Fashion- her wardrobe purge series are extremely helpful
- A Beautiful Mess- they are into the refashioning side of things with their Project ReStyle
- and not to forget- Fabulously Broke! here and here are interesting reads
Below are my purchases for January. I suppose I can't expect miracles :-)
I updated my undergarments:

2 basic t shirt bras- Bras N Things
6 bras by Elle Macpherson and a Simone Perele.
The last time I updated my bras was in July 2009 so it was definitely time to get some well fitting ones. Some were on sale, some weren't, but all of them were tried on to ensure a perfect fit! Never underestimate the power of correctly fitted (and lacey) bras.
A seamless brief
2 more Elle Macpherson knickers
Next are the clothes:
Witchery beige ruched t
Also bought another in t
Piper top
Nathan Smith v-neck t
Morrison stone coloured knee length shorts (both were on sale)
I have a weakness for Morrison clothing. They are an Australian (West Australian- Fremantle to be more precise) brand and their pieces are timeless. Their pieces are expensive but well fitted and extremely comfortable. It's good in a way because you only choose items that really really suit you.
Accessories:

Beracamy leather wallet
Kate Sylvester tan belt
WEAR wrap ballet flats
Greenwillow handmade jewellery pouch
Last but not least:
Book of poems by Tim Burton
In all, I think I did OK. I know I bought clothes etc, but the stuff I chose I felt were good quality and I can see them getting a lot of use.
